Hospital Hamper!

First hamper to be sent to cancer ward

Being in isolation, undergoing cancer treatment can be scary for a person of any age – even more so for a teenage girl on her own.
We found out about a local Middlesbrough teenage girl who wishes to stay anonymous. She was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and is currently undergoing specialist treatment, for which she must stay in isolation for several days.
Butterfly Giving has tried to brighten her stay slightly by providing a hamper with all the essential necessities – plus a couple of luxuries to try and make her stay as comfortable as possible!
We tried to personalise the hamper, to fit in with her needs, hospital requirements and her likes.
She was ecstatic when she seen the hamper and although still scared, it helped her to feel a little more relaxed about the experience ahead.
Cancer treatment is never going to be nice, but with your help and kind donations, we hope that this will be the first of many hampers to be sent to hospital wards around the UK, making young patients more comfortable and helping them to cope with their treatment.
If you know a young person due to go in for cancer treatment, please let in touch at getintouch@butterflygiving.org.uk and we can make a tailor made hamper to prepare them for their stay in hospital.
